My name is Tom Daley and I am a diver. I am 14 years old. I compete in the synchronised and individual diving events and in a few months I will be travelling to Beijing to compete in the Olympic Games. I heard about this website from my mentor, Leon Taylor. You have probably read his blogs on this site before. Leon has been a real inspiration to me and is a fantastic mentor. Over the next few months you can read what I have been up to and how my preparations for the Olympic Games are going. It is a very exciting time for me and I am looking forward to sharing it with you all.
When you train as often as I do it is important to relax and rest when you can. So over the May Bank Holiday I went for a break away with my family. We stayed in a caravan in Newquay on a site called Watergate Bay. We stayed for the weekend but had to come back for my SATS, which are the exams you take in Year 9.
A few days later I went to watch my brothers in a presentation evening at their rugby club. It was a great evening for both of them as Ben won the Coaches Player of the Year Award and William won the Most Improved Player. I was really proud of them. Ben is 9 years old and William is 12 years, so they have both done brilliantly.
On the 15th May I was filming the TV show, Superstars. This involves two teams of sports stars competing against each other. I was judging the diving competition. It was really good fun as Sir Steve Redgrave and Dame Kelly Holmes were hosting the show. One day I'd like to work in TV so to be involved in a programme like this was great experience. You will be able to watch this programme on Channel 5 in July.
A few days later I was at the ITV studios for the Britain's Best Awards. This was a very exciting night as I won the Walkers Home Grown Talent Award. The ceremony was hosted by Piers Morgan and there were some really big names there like Lewis Hamilton and James McAvoy. I was honoured to win such a prestigious award. It was presented to me by the new Mayor of London, Boris Johnson.
The 20th May was a big day in the pool as I competed in a World Series event in Sheffield. In the synchronised event I compete with Blake Aldridge who is 26 years old. We had a great performance and won a Gold Medal. This was Britain's first ever World Series Gold! We scored a ten in our second dive so we were very pleased.
I also competed in the individual event and won a silver medal. It's great to get some good solid performances under my belt with the Olympic Games just a few months away. It was also nice to have this success in Sheffield with the British crowd behind us.
So it's been a very busy month for me both in and out of the pool. Next month I have more competitions and other events to attend. So why don't you come back soon to find out what I have been up to?
