Tom Daley getting ready for Beijing
Date: 25/7/2008
Well the month of July got off to an exciting start for me as on the 4th July I went to collect my Olympic kit. This was a really special day and it fully hit home that I was going to compete in the Olympic Games. It was a day I will never forget.

A few days later I had a Japanese TV crew come to my school to do some filming and interviews. It was great fun. I really enjoy this side of what I do and it's a good job as on the 8th July I had 5 interviews to do in one day!

I then had a trip up North to a synchronised training camp in Leeds. This was 3 days of training with my diving partner, Blake Aldridge where we were working on our dives for the Olympic Games. It was good to get some consistent training together with only a month till we compete in the biggest competition in the world.

Have you heard of Tanya Crouch? She is another British diver and like me, she lives in Plymouth. We had a really busy week following the training camp. We were going round schools in the town, talking in assemblies to advertise free diving lessons to encourage more people to try the sport. We did 2 assemblies a day for five days so it was a busy week as I have training and school work on top of that.

Over the last year I have been working on the BBC Olympic Dreams programme. This is where a production team film me and follow my path to the Olympic Games in London in 2012. On the 15th of July I had some filming for the programme. I will continue to be filmed over the next few years and the cameras will follow my training and competitions as I aim for an Olympic Gold Medal in my home country.

The next day I had lunch with Sir Steve Redgrave. He is one of my mentors along with Leon Taylor. Steve watched me training then we had a chat over lunch. He talked to me about the Olympic Games and what to expect. To receive advice from somebody who has been to five Olympic Games and won a Gold medal at each one is just amazing. I really appreciate the help I get from other sports stars like Steve and Leon.

Thursday 17th July was an exciting day for a totally different reason. I had my braces taken off. And then the next day I went to Frankie and Benny's with my friends. This was a bit of a send off for me going to Beijing. I had a family send off the next day and it gave me chance to say goodbye to everyone.

The next week I was with the British Diving Team at a training camp in Sheffield. We had lunch and a talk from the Head of British Diving, Steve Foley. He said lots of thank you's to everyone and it was a big morale booster for the team. On the evening we went bowling and played athletes versus the coaches. We won the first game but the coaches beat us in the second. It was really nice to spend some time with the other divers. The next day we went for a really posh meal, which was lovely.

Today I have been at the pool for an Adidas photo shoot. This was one of my last jobs before I head to Beijing on Sunday. I can't wait to get out there and start this amazing journey. I was asked who I was most looking forward to meeting, but there isn't one person in particular. It's going to be great to meet all the athletes from other sports. When I am around the village I will be looking out for other Team GB tracksuits so I can meet as many different people as possible. Hopefully I will have some time to watch other sports too, especially when my first competition is out the way as I have a break before the next.

So that's it from me. Hopefully you will be able to watch me compete on the TV. My synchronised competition is on the 11th August and individual event is on the 22nd and 23rd.

Thanks for reading my blogs over the last few months!
