Last month I took part in the British Open which was held in front of a home crowd in Manchester. This was the first event my family have been able to watch me compete in for a year so that made it even more special. At the event some of the best contenders in the world competed, with only a few who will be aiming for medals next year missing. This meant the pressure was really on.
Usually when I go away to compete my opponents have more people shouting for them but the tables turned for this event and I had so much support. There were cameras everywhere and loud music played as we entered the ring. It has made me even more excited for 2012 as I have had a real feel for what it will be like.
The actual competition was great as I won the Gold Medal beating world number five Marlene Harnois of France 10-8. With only a few more competitions before the Olympic Games I am delighted with the shape I am in.
Coming up over the next few months I have the French Open in December and two competitions in March plus the European Championships in May.
There is also a test event in London at the beginning of December but I have decided not to take part. I think it will be much better for me to experience competing in London for the first time at the Olympic Games and that has to be my main focus.
I need to train really hard over the next few months as although I am currently front of the queue for the Team GB spot in my weight category I need to ensure nothing happens that will affect my chances. Once I have my place confirmed my aim is to the win the Gold Medal and I am ready for that challenge.
Thank you for reading my blogs over the last few months and look out for me in 2012. I can't wait!
