National School Meals Week

School Meals staff from Solutions SK Ltd, Stockport Council's wholly
owned company helped promote healthy eating during National School Meals
Week (NSMW) 2009.

NSMW week gave schools the opportunity to showcase their own school
meals, while celebrating the hard work and dedication put into the
service by their professionally trained catering staff.

A variety of events and activities were held in schools throughout the
week for NSMW which was launched with a performance from local band
TheHarks at Marple Hall School.

As part of NSMW, Solutions SK teamed up with Stockport County, to offer
primary and secondary pupils the chance to welcome some of the team into
their school. Children were asked to answer questions on healthy eating
and Stockport County.

The winners of the competition - Jade Molloy from Fairway Primary and
the secondary school winner Connor Jackson from Werneth High School -
enjoyed a visit from the Stockport County players last week.

In the primary school, Jade's classmates took part in games organised by
the Football in Community Coach Mike Smith and the County Players -
CarlBaker, Adam Griffin and Paul Turnbull. At Werneth, County players,
Matty Mainwaring, David Poole and Gianluca Havern organised a 5 a-side
match between 10 selected children, which included warming up and down
exercises and a question and answer session.

Councillor Mark Weldon, Executive Member for Children & Young People,
said: "National School Meals Week is a very important week. It gives
schools and their trained catering staff the chance to highlight the
hard work that goes into producing healthy meals for children at primary
and secondary schools."

Simon King from Stockport County, said: "Stockport County were delighted
at the opportunity to work with Solutions SK in promoting the get active
day during the NSMW. The players and staff had a fantastic day educating
the prize winning schools on the value of maintaining a healthy
lifestyle. This is another example of the excellent relationship the
club and Solutions SK have and the difference that we can make in the
community."

Solutions SK provide school meals in over 100 primary schools and eight
secondary schools in Stockport. All meals are nutritionally analysed to
meet Government standards and provide pupils with healthy and well
