Employees from Solutions SK, Stockport Council's wholly owned company, recently attended the 5th annual Achievement in Excellence Awards.
The Leader of Stockport Council, Councillor Dave Goddard attended the event at Stockport Town Hall along with sponsors of the event. The ceremony was hosted by Iain Skelton, Business Manager of sister company Individual Solutions SK.
Team awards went to:
- The Recycling & Refuse Collection team for Overall Team of the Year, sponsored by TransLinc
- Waste Solutions SK for Customer Excellence, sponsored by Holophane
- Business Support for Health and Safety, sponsored by InterSafety
- Business Support for Helping the Local Community, sponsored by Teletaxis
- Highways Maintenance for Innovation and Creativity, sponsored by Civica
- School Meals for Most Improved Business Unit, sponsored by WRTL
- Cheadle Hulme High School Building Cleaning team for Working in Partnership
- Street Lighting for New Business Development, sponsored by Benchmark
- Highways Maintenance for Best Contract Won, sponsored by Bramhall Surfacing
The individual Betty Shepherd Employee of the Year Award was presented to two people - David Hammond from the Refuse and Recycling team, whose quick reactions and dedication helped to save a young child’s life earlier this year, and Simon Nichol from Highways and Street Lighting, for his commitment to the vital personal care service provided to residents in the borough.
Councillor Dave Goddard, Leader of Stockport Council, said: “The event was a great way to thank the employees for their continued commitment and dedication to the services they provide and also to mark the fifth anniversary of Solutions SK. There were some inspiring stories from across the company of teams and individuals that had gone the ‘extra mile’ and I would like to congratulate all the winners.”
