State-of-the-art tills for secondary schools
Pupils and staff at nine Stockport secondary schools are benefiting from new state-of-the-art tills.

The Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS) tills were delivered to school dinning rooms following the Christmas holidays after Solutions SK, the Council's wholly owned company, identified the need for the new systems.

The new tills provide a detailed breakdown of sales and identify specific product line sales. The system will also help reduce waiting times and reduce paper (till rolls) and ink cartridges as the tills use laser technology.

The screen of the new tills feature over 600 products currently sold in the schools. These products/dishes are broken up into categories including main courses, sandwiches and deli, pasta, desserts and drinks.

This sales mix analysis is used in order to nutritionally analyse the menus in anticipation of the Government's 'New Nutritional Standards for Secondary Schools' which will become law from September 1st 2009. The information will also allow the Solutions SK Catering teams within the schools to replace low volume lines with products that meet customer needs and expectations.

Solutions SK Managing Director, Nic Cox, said: "We would like to thank all customers, staff and the schools for their support during the process of installing the new EPOS till systems which we hope will improve the service we provide even further."
